It’s time to stop doing those things completely, just quit now, and start having a plan for everything that might happen in the hand. But hoping and wishing don’t make you any money. Most players make whatever they think is the best play and hope that things go the way they want them. It will be for the vast majority of poker players. They made a play and hoped that it would work, but they didn’t have a plan for what to do if it didn’t work.
When you see a player get reraised and think for a long time, they didn’t have a plan. Most players, even some good ones, make plays and hope they work. Because there is one thing that ties all these strategies together – thinking all the way through the hand and having a plan.
